THQ Nordic revealed that rumors of an Alone in the Dark remake were accurate at its summer showcase. A “reimagining” of the 1992 classic is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC, but a release date has not been announced.
However, there hasn’t been a new Alone in the Dark game since 2015. Despite the Lovecraftian original’s status as the first 3D survival horror game (it even has a Guinness World Record to prove it), the series hasn’t seen a new installment since 2015.
Since THQ Nordic purchased the rights to the series from Atari in 2018, this will be the studio’s debut installment in the franchise.
Pieces Interactive, developers of the next single-player reinvention, have enlisted Soma and Amnesia: The Dark Descent writer Mikael Hedberg to pen a unique story with creature designs by Guy Davis, a frequent collaborator of Guillermo del Toro’s.

The game will feature references to the ’90s trilogy’s characters, locations, and plot points. It’s still set in the American South in the 1920s and features the first game’s protagonists, Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby, as playable characters. THQ Nordic, on the other hand, claims that every foe will be original.
The publisher also off many other games throughout the webcast besides Alone in the Dark, including new gameplay from SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake, Destroy All Humans! 2 – Reprobed, and AEW Fight Forever.
Real-time strategy game Tempest Rising, open-world arcade racing Wreckreation, and Space for Sale, in which players construct and sell houses on procedurally created planets to alien customers, were also unveiled.
